My predictions for conference beta are a bit convoluted. For me, it's not as clear cut as alpha was. Anyways enough with the intros here goes.
Gravity
Roster- ra, dawgpound, lotus, xyber, cursive, xspain
Expected finish- first
My thoughts- The odds are in their favor of finishing their conference in a solid first place finish, however I don't think it's a lock. Clan continuance is a very good team that stands a good chance of giving them a run for their money, depending on how things work and who plays for who. For those not up to speed with the TDM goings on xyber just came back to UT, and then walked off with first at DLF... white not a huge deal, there was some top notch competition, and it signals that he isn't as rusty as the competition would hope. The addition of xspain is a interesting one. A member of team demise (inactive since 2k3) but a proven winner prior. He could prove to be a much bigger force than people expect.
Continuance.
Roster- cevx, medicine, tarsis, lane, josesph, klrinstinct, wesdog, osis, mthdiscool
Expected finish- second.
My thoughts- Con was a great team prior the death of the game post CPL. Since the game has started to regain some momentum and life they have come back, and seem to be doing very well, at chipping away most of the rust, and establishing themselves as a dominant force. With additions such as wesdog from retribution, and pen from kaizen they have picked up more quality players. While I feel gravity will beat them out and be the top team in the conference it's not a lock if con really practices for it.
Short Buss Passengers
Roster- chillin, deez, bling, slicemetal, phant, deft, seemple
Expected finish- third.
My thoughts- I'm sure people will argue with me on this, but SBP has a very good chance at ending up second of conference, or possibly even first (although it's a very slim one). It's a good team of skilled TDM players, that seem to practice very often, and have very good teamwork. They aren't as well known for out right dominance as the other teams, and there aren't any names on their roster that stand out as top duelers, but there are certainly a great team. I know they have their share of fans secretly rooting for them.
Mulletmen
Roster- condiment_king, cruiser, bloodslash, herbal, liquidz, soup, archon, fcw0404
Expected finish-fourth+
My thoughts- I'm not entirely sure my fourth+ was fair on them, they just might suprise everybody and pull out a great showing. M2 isn't a new team, they are an older team, and have some good teamwork. It's hard to make a call on this because I haven't seen that much of them in game. None the less I feel this prediction is accurate.
LCD:TDM
Roster – pyrogenix, snubby, zyphen, element, cafe, poisonbagels, joorbuddy, wcmaxi, rythem, lavake.
Expected finish- fifth+
My thoughts- LCD is (comparatively) a fairly active clan in both 1v1, TDM, and ONS. There is no question that they players are out there and working on their skills constantly. I'm not entirely sure exactly how they are prepping for GGL though. I don't think they will place above gravity, con, or sbp, but they could take a crack at fourth in conference.
Defthreats
Roster – ono, smooth, concrete, cuzkey, bwm, hitalo, warhead.
Expected finish- fifth+
My thoughts- Defthreats is simply h2k on steroids, mainly with the addition of smooth, and ono (both from no escape). From my point of view, they are at roughly the same area as LCD is at the time.
404
Roster- redbaron, crosis, i-am, phro, cham3l3on, waxed, lithium, shadow_reaper, dismal, vassago.
Expected finish- 6+
My thoughts- Honestly they could be closer to Defthreats, and LCD than I am giving them credit for. They are certainly active, and I might be wrong, but then again this my article.
Imminent
Roster- powerslave, darkSoul, jadedfool, feuergeist, dispel
Expected finish- 7+
My thoughts- Poor imminent, the team that knows ping rape like none other. If your at all familiar with NA you know that west coast = screwed. You get ping raped everywhere. While the central players get great pings, and the east coasters decent. Top it off with the fact virtually none of the competitive community is west coast and things just get worse. Imminent has been stuck in a horrible situation of being an all west coast clan, that just gets ping raped. This is why I rated them so low. However... GGL is using newnet, which could completely change everything. If any team is going to get a massive benefit from newnet it's Imminent. Since I haven't seen what they can do with newnet, my prediction for them has the chance of being completely wrong, time will tell.
