For those who don't know, PDXLan is one of the biggest lans on the west coast, and they have now announced a 1000 man lan in August. They are claiming this lan to be the largest and most sponsored of any lan in North America.
PDXLan traditionally sells out within a few days of ticket sales going live, so participation is always good. They hold tournaments in a variety of games. For more info check the site at http://www.pdxlan.com
They have announced that they are considering what tournaments to run, with 1v1 DM UT2004 and Onslaught Team being the main ones. I have made a post in their forums to get them to consider a CTF tournament, since its been ages since any kind of decent CTF lan tourney has been held, regardless of the game.
If you are interested in attending this lan and would like to see CTF (or any other non-ons team based tourney), please head over to their forums and make a post about it. The lan is in Portland, OR, and is scheduled for the weekend of Aug 11-14. All you west coast players should make the trip regardless of what tourney's are run. :)

Hrm, I hate to ask this here when it might be answered plainly on the forums there, but are there any sorts of lucrative prizes involved at all? Just so people who would have to shell out some $$ for this trip would have some idea as to whether or not they'd have a chance to walk away with something.

There will be over $100k in prizes for this LAN. Whether or not the more lucrative ones are for the tournaments, specifically the UT tournament, I don't know. But for example at their march 500 man lan, they gave really nice p4 processors just for signing up - 1 person out of every 100 won one. *boggle*
I think it will be pretty big and lucrative. :)

Like Ender said, they'll have about $100K worth of Swag. I think at a prior lan they gave out 6800GT's to the UT winner(s). They've got great hookups with Nvidia and Intel.
They refuse to give out cash prizes, and who knows which tournaments will get what. They still have a lot to tie up in the sponsorship dept I'm sure, so I don't think we'll have any idea for a couple months at least.

Hmmm fascinating. Wonder if getting sponsors to help pay for trips to things like this is still possible.

If I remember correctly, Whitetiger got a car dealership to help pay for his trip to WCG US Finals this year. I have no clue how he did it, but I guess if companies will sponsor little 5 year olds trying to pretend like they're physically capable of doing anything near what could be categorized as "playing baseball", then there's gotta be someone would sponsor a player for something like this =p.

It will probably help a lot if one of your parents owns the business. :D Not saying that's what happened with the other guy, but I wouldn't be at all surprised... hehe
