Invisible players during demo playback

I originally posted this as a followup to a post in the UTComp sub-forum, but I suspect this isn't a UTComp-specific issue, but rather demo recording / mutators in general. Nevertheless, here's the original topic:

http://ut2004.gameamp.com/forum/showTopic/6136.php

Basically, I recorded a single-player demo using the UTComp 1.7a mutator and another mutator (I forget the name, but it's the one that says "required for see-all mode" or something on a custom map (DM-Campgrounds) and then immediately tried to play that same demo back. The demo loaded and played back, but it was like the players didn't exist. You can't see them (although you can see their projectiles and gibs) and you can't chasecam them.

I've basically got two questions:

1) What can I check to make sure my setup is configured properly to play back the demo? I've checked my ServerPackages lines, and I believe them to be correct (after I corrected them, they were definitely wrong before)...but I suppose I could be wrong. In this general forum, though, I'm trying to keep it not UTComp-specific.

2) Since things weren't done right before (for example, I still had the ServerPackages line for UTComp 1.6a in my config), would that "damage" the demo, or can I expect my existing demo to play back properly once my setup is correct?

Here's the text of my original reply in that topic:

I'm having this same problem, and I had the wrong ServerPackages line (from the old UTComp)...however, after updating it, the symptoms didn't change. For what it's worth, this was a single-player game that I'm attempting to watch the demo in the same UT2004 environment that I just recorded it with. Here's my info:

OS: MS Windows XP SP2 (32-bit)
UT: 3369
UTComp: 1.7a

The symptoms are that the demo runs, but:

1) You can't follow (chasecam) the players (you can only fly around the level independently)

2) You can't see the players (but you can see their gibs where applicable)

3) You _can_ see the projectiles.

I guess one question is, would playing back the demo with the wrong ServerPackages line have broken it somehow (I mean, altered the demo file), so that even with the right settings it still doesn't work? That'd be too bad; there was this one really cool frag I wanted to see again. :)

Is there an official "upgrade procedure" for new UTComp versions?

Thanks in advance for any help!
