A large map that features interesting flow, it is well balanced and gobbles of fun, whether it's in public play or serious competition.
Critique:
Possibly the second most played map in UT2K3 TDM, it too returns and works as well as it used to. The most strategically intensive map in the game, Asbestos required teams to think on their feet and adapt their strategies on the fly. The balance of close-quarters action and far-reaching hitscan made this an amazing map, and it's a shame most of the newer folk won't have a proper opportunity to try it out.
I honestly don't see what everyone likes about this map. The flow is simply atrocious because of all the clutter and obstructions. All the railings, overhead beams, concrete posts and whatnot tend to limit your movement and take away from that smooth, free-flowing feeling you get in maps like Goose or Waisten or Corrugaton. Plus in a 4v4 or 5v5 (bleh) it's pretty easy to just play "zone-D" around the upper level and control the LtG, shock, mini and amp. Anyone who tries to come up the two elevators will be easy hitscan targets with feeble means of retaliation, and it's a really hairy climb out of the link/keg/50a room, though you do get a RL to help out if you have superweapons turned off (like you should).
