I admit the Scorpion is not the most useful vehicle in Onslaught, but it's not nearly as bad as this site rates it. The Scorpion is very difficult to use properly however, making it unpopular in my opinion.
When using the Scorpion you have to think somewhat coherently in order to maximize your efficiency with the vehicle. Before charging into battle, take note of what vehicles/players are in the vicinity. Try these tips when using the Scorpion and see if it helps you any:
-If you see a tank, DO NOT charge in head first. See if there's a way to sneak around. Most often tank turrets are pointed at a forward arc because the tank is stationary. If there is no way to sneak around, learn to dash in between shots.
-Do not charge up all the time, only for your openning volley. The charge up in my experiences does do a nice amount of extra damage, but not enough to warrent wasting 3-4 shots.
-Drive by shootings are your friend. You can really wreck enemy vehicles including tanks/mantas if you quickly drive by and fire 3-4 quick bursts at them. The shots from the scorpion explode after 2-3 seconds, so sticking around and waiting for them to go off is going to get you nowhere.
-The Scorpion has a 360 turret, it can fire in many angles besides forward, although it isn't great at firing upward. Use this in case of a missile lock from an Arvil, if you have time, swing the turret behind you to see how close a missile is to your tail. Bail out before it hits to avoid death.
-Don't drive with the sheers of the Scorpion extended, only extened them prior to mowing a foe down, you can break them on terrain.
-As surprising as it may sound, you can actually pull a 180-degree turn in a scorpion, but you need to practice the technique first. While going at high speeds, slam the brake and move the mouse rapidly in one direction, if you do it right you'll be heading the other way.
