If you have a problem with campers, use a method similar to this:
Collect as much armor and health as you can, then make repeated hit-and run attempts on the person camping. Either they will leave the position to refuel giving you access to what they were hording, or chase you and attempt to take you out. It may take several passes before they leave, but it works.
